Routine
I find it takes many years from beginning to research to come to a fairly conclusive idea on every subject of health. Therefore I am presenting a basic diet and exercise routine based on the years of research I have performed and the results I see from certain diets and exercises.

  • Breakfast - Breakfast should be considered an important meal in the day. It should contain protein to satisfy your hunger and it should contain raw food enzymes to give your digestive system a healthy start. This is my fine-tuned breakfast:
Organic eggs with sea salt, pepper and cayenne - free range means they get more nutrients, are happier, and organic means you get less hormones and antibiotics. The cayenne will help strengthen your heart against the stress of the day and can prevent heart attacks.
Vegetable smoothie with green veges, banana, apple, and optionally a carrot, avocado, or orange. I love a quote from Jack Lananne - 'if man made, don't eat it' and 'if it tastes good, spit it out'. So this is where my vegetable smoothie comes in. You get your enzymes as well as luminescence from raw foods. Unless you are eating dirt, it don't come from anywhere else. This ensures that even if the rest of my day consists of dead food, I have done something to balance it out.
Slippery elm, oat meal, chia seeds, creatine, taurine, pollen, organic biodynamic unhomogenised yoghurt - Slipper elm and oat meal provide a gentle dose of dietry fiber, while chia seeds provide amino acids, omega 3 and many essential minerals and phytochemicals. Creatine assists in supplying energy to cells such as muscle cells, and aids muscle retention. Taurine has been shown to strengthen the heart, assist in higher magnesium and potassium retention and lower sodium retention in cells. It also has a positive effect on anxiety, lowers blood sugar levels and inhibits glycation. Pollen is high in amino acids and can assist in making your skin beautiful =) Yoghurt as with all dairy should be organic and unhomogenised. A yoghurt that contains ABC cultures will also assist with increasing your healthful bacteria levels.
  • Through the day - this is the most difficult to keep under control. You usually cannot prepare food easily at work and the take-away foods are unhealthy but tempting. These are snacks that can fill your day and take your mind off the deep fried canteen food.
Goji berries, raw nuts, raisins, sultanas - these can be surprisingly filling, provide omega 3s and other nutrients throughout the day. Make sure to take plenty of water with dried fruits as they will use water to rehydrate.
Bananas, apples, grapes, etc - easy fruits make a nice snack to take the edge off cravings.
Dark chocolate - a delicious snack that can be very healthy. Get as dark as possible, I love the bitterness of 85 or 90% chocolate. Try to get organic if possible but I will buy non-organic if it is cheaper.
  • Lunch - I find it hard to figure out something for lunch. Sometimes I take to work what I ate the night before but it is not nice cold and I have decided I will not use the microwave (personal choice).  I generally reheat in the oven.
Salad of green lettuce, sliced tomato, grapes, cucumber, and a olive oil and apple cider vinegar dressing - this provides some raw nutrients to your meal.
Organic ham with pineapple or free range chicken breast strips in a sundried tomato sauce - I don't buy organic chicken - way too expensive! But this makes a nice tastey snack along side a garden salad.
  • Dinner - the meal that should be small but is generally large!
Frozen Veges - Veges straight out of the freezer and rinsed can make a tasty snack and taste a little like chips!

Chicken Strips in Sundried Tomato sauce - Easy to make. Just slap the chicken breasts into a baking pan, cover with olive oil, slather with the sauce and chuck in the oven. Once cooked through, cut into strips and serve.

Ham and Pineapple - another easy to make one. When Pineapple is cheap, this can be tasty with a nice salad on the side or in a sandwhich with some salad, tomato, cheese and tomato sauce.

Lamb chops - Lamb chops can taste delicious without much preparation. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Put in a frying pan with butter, cook on both sides for 5 minutes each - cover with a large lid - and its all ready. Serve with mashed potato and peas. But lay off too much potato as it is like eating sugar (check out its GI compared to glucose!)

Rib Eye Fillet - When I am feeling generous, a nice rib eye fillet with a mushroom sauce is completely yummy! A bit more preparation required however.

Salmon and mustard sauce - Cook the salmon in a baking tray with olive oil. Serve with mustard.

White fish fillets - such as blue grenadier. Can be baked in olive oil and butter or steamed with garlic. Serve with a side of steamed brocolli and carrot or veges stirfried in organic soy sauce, fish sauce, and a little seseme oil.

  • Sweeteners. So this all sounds kill joy if you cannot have your cake and sweets as well. So are there any healthy sweeteners around? Well as it turns out, there just might be.
Mollassas - this has a strong flavour but can be useful in some dishes. It comes with a number of nutrients such as magnesium and potassium.
Organic coconut sugar - this is awesome, has a GI of 35 which is almost half that of rice. It has a very slight caramel flavour but is very versatile in cakes and other desserts. It has protein content and contains 12 amino acids as well as other nutrients.
Xylatol - This is an alcohol sugar. It has a negligible GI and does not feed bacteria in the body or mouth. In actual fact it causes bacteria to attach onto it and renders bacteria ineffective. This is why you will find it in some toothpaste. Awesome in cakes and muffins where you do not want to impart any flavour from your sweetener.
Stevia - a difficult one to work with as it can have a somewhat bitter after taste but comes from a natural plant extract and is up to 300 times sweeter than sugar.
Honey - This one is quite high GI but at least it has nutrients to boot.
  • Medications
Swedish Bitters - when you have a queasy stomach or mild digestive issues.
Olive Leaf Extract - take over time to slowly detox your body and get your immune system up.
Hawthorn Berry Extract - Take when your heart is hurting from too much stress. If you cannot sleep due to anxiety then also take some in water.
Echinacea, Epicor, Beta Glucan - Take when you have or feel a cold or flu coming on.
Vitamin D - Take during the Winter months to support your immune system and prevent colds and flus.
Adaptaphase - Take this frequently when you are feeling chronically and seriously stressed.
  • Exercise
PACE - Aerobic and cardio exercise may not be very good for you. According to Dr. Sears, the PACE exercise program, based on interval training, is a better method of exercise and builds up lung capacity, increases muscle mass, and decreases fat. The basic premise is to perform an exercise in intervals such as: -
- 2 minutes warm-up / 4 minutes of exersion (creating an oxygen debt) / recovery time (slow exercise until heart rate returns to normal) / 3 minutes of exersion / recovery time / 2 minutes of exersion / recovery time / 1 minute of exersion / recovery time.
This is just a very basic example. Exercises that can be performed with this can be anything such as: -
- Bicycle riding, treadmill, stair stepping, rope skipping, sprinting, alternating lunges, squats, jump squats, crunches/situps, leg levers etc.

Also you should note your maximum heart rate and exercise somewhere around the 60%-80% maximum. For a 32 year old the maximum heart rate is 208-[32*0.7] =185.

Flex exercises for a painfree life - this involves a number of exercises that flex the entire body and can prevent pain by using all the the muscles in the body. The exercises are bow, dog, lizard, squat, splits, sky reach, jaw, neck exercise, elbows, wrists, fingers and leg stretches.

Important steps to health

1. Purify the body of heavy metals, inorganic compounds, mycotoxins and elctromagnetic radiation.

This may involve a method of chelation such as Zeolite. See http://www.zeoactiv8.com/pdfs/General-User-Information.pdf which provides information regarding a specific brand. This should be combined with a colloidal minerals supplementation as any mineral deficiencies will be increased by the taking of Zeolite. This should also be taken with a lot of water as it causes a lot of water to be passed from the body. An 80kg person should take 2.5 L of water per day.

2. Modify the diet.

Eat fresh and preferably raw fruit and vegetables. Eat organic meat with no added hormones or antibiotics.

Reduce the number of grains in your diet - especially the processed ones. This means white rice. Try replacing it with brown or even black rice. Brown rice has a more nutty chewy flavour so can take a bit of getting used to. Black rice however is almost sweet in taste but is very good for you from what I have seen.

Take walnuts for Omega 3, 6 and 9. Take brazil nuts for selenium. Take apricots and apricot pits to assist in preventing and beating cancer. Take raw green veges to purify the blood and keep the body balanced and toned.

Take a multivitamin supplement. Cheap supplements are a waste of time and are not well absorbed by the body. Better to take a more expensive one that contains quality ingredients. Forget vitamin E supplements as they are usually only alpha tocepherol. This is the least effective form of vitamin E and can reduce the more effective forms in your body including the more powerful form - tocotrienols. If you take vitamin E, make sure it is a full spectrum tocepherol / tocotrienol supplement.

Leave out processed and cooked foods as much as possible. Most people will say no to this one. I say "as much as possible" means as far as you as an individual or family are willing to go.

3. Increase the alkalinity of your blood.

Take chloraphyl and spirulina and dark green leafy's.

4. Use anti-fungal treatment.

It is possible that cancer starts from a fungal or virus infection. A book that details this link is "Outsmarting your cancer".

5. Increase your calcium intake.

6 Oxygenate the blood and increase the EFA’s (Omega 6 and Omega 3).

When less than optimum levels of oxygen is available to cells, cancer can begin to grow. Cancer is anaerobic in nature and instead lives by fermenting sugar. Therefore lower your risk of cancer by increasing oxygen (by taking such as Co-Enzyme Q10 for example - try to find the ubiquinol form which is more available to the body for older people than ubiquinone) and decrease the number of processed sugars in the diet.

7. Reduce sugar intake.

Once again, cancer as well as bacteria and fungus (candida for example) thrive on sugar in the body. Excess sugar also brings on insulin resistance (which can go on to diabetes) and also advanced glycation end products (AGE). AGEs literally make you age.

Sugars should be replaced at least by lower glycemic sweeteners (not artificial ones such as saccharin or aspartame) for example Stevia (plant based sweetener 300 times sweeter than sugar) , Xylatol (an alcohol sugar), organic coconut sugar (non-organic add in preservatives in processing, GI of 35) or even organic unsulphured blackstrap molassas (contains many beneficial minerals including calcium and potassium). Fruits such as bananas can also be used in cakes instead of using processed nutrient devoid sugars.

8 Take mineral supplements and herbal tonics to replace deficiencies.

Zinc is a common deficiency that can cause immune depression. Lack of magnesium can cause heart issues. Lack of potassium can cause a range of issues - a deficiency of potassium can be caused if you supplement with magnesium without potassium. Calcium deficiency due to poor absorbsion - ensure you take calcium with magnesium, vitamin D, and vitamin K (vitamin K is found in butter).

Vitamin D deficiency is extremely common and can cause immune depression and low levels are linked to depression, sickness, and even cancer. Vitamin D is best acquired from the sun. Some who do testing say this doesnt work for everyone. My theory is that they may be going about it all wrong. If you have sun exposure, I have read on some sites that showering within 48 hours can prevent the complete synthesis of vitamin D. So the rule would be:
- To get at least 20 minutes of sunshine a day - not through glass as UVB rays are blocked by the glass and you will only be getting the more dangerous UVA rays.
- To only wash the essential parts of the body and try not to wash the parts exposed to the sun too regularly.
- Do not use most commercial sunscreens - these can contain chemicals linked to cancer. According to EWG when I last checked, the best sunscreen for both effectiveness and safety is Soleo Organics brand. It also does not contain nano-particles which is a good thing.

9. Don’t use plastics, cut use of chemicals and immediately reduce the intake of processed foods and any other contaminants.

This one is difficult to do, however try to replace containers in the pantry with glass. Use pyrex or glass to bring lunches to work or places. Use glass to store water.

10 Exercise to tone muscles and build stamina.

Dr Sears has a program called PACE that only takes 20 minutes a day but is much safer than long bouts of exercise. Unlike long exercise which diminishes lung capacity, it uses interval training to actually build up lung capacity.

How do I feed my children before the age of 3?
Before the age of 3, I feed my children unprocessed and raw fruits, raw vegetables, raw nuts and seeds, freshly made vegetable and fruit juices, water and a little organic unhomogenized jersey milk.

I will not give them ANY soft drinks, bottled fruit juices, cakes, sweets, lollies, biscuit, white rice, white pasta, white flour products, white sugar products, etc.

Why do I do this?
I often get flak and sarcasm from people for feeding my child a heathly diet. A common argument is that I am depriving my child of the finer things in life. I am trying to do the right thing by my child - you would think that feeding a healthy diet would be above reproach. Who would have thought we would ever live in a world where people criticise you for removing unhealthy food from a childs diet. Especially in an age where childhood illnesses, obesity, diabetes, and cancer are on the rise.

My answer to this is as follows: -

1. I love my children and will do anything in my ability to ensure they are healthy and disease free and not do anything that may be debilitating to them later on in life.
2. I understand first hand the effects of eating a high junk food diet and ended up very ill from my processed food eating days.
3. I see first hand the effects of feeding my child healthy food. He does not fall sick very often and when he does, it is rarely anything more than a mild cough.
3. This is my child and just as others have a right to feed cakes, sweets, biscuits, soft drinks and whatever else to their children, I also have a right to feed my child as I wish. Despite some of the feedback I have received, I am not depriving my child of a bright future.
4. A child cannot fully understand the ramifications of decisions they make at this age. They are still thinking of the here and now. It is my duty as a parent to make those decisions based on what I know and to try and educate my child as he gets older. Eventually he will learn to make his own decisions about what he does or does not do.
5. Feeding sugary, processed and preservative laden foods and drinks to your child does not make them happier. My child was extremely happy eating his fruits, and would go crazy for a bowl of frozen veges from the freezer. There are plenty of studies and anecdotal evidence that show the adverse effects of eating and drinking sugary and preservative laden foods and drinks. Some of these are diabetes, lower IQ, cancer, obesity, the chance of catching that common cold or flu, or autism. And before you go all crazy on me saying this, diet may not be the ultimate cause for all cases of autism however it is certainly a factor for many cases out there. See http://www.fedupwithfoodadditives.info/factsheets/Factautism.htm, http://www.fedupwithfoodadditives.info/index.htm#buttons and also about the Failsafe diet - http://www.fedupwithfoodadditives.info/failsafe.htm.
6. A diet high in processed foods at the age of 3 has been shown in a recent study to interfere with a childs brain development and decreases their IQ and cognitive ability by age 8. The study was published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health. Do we really need a study to tell us this? We shouldn't.
7. Despite what you see on TV, you have to understand that the media and government are not always right on health issues. They are not doctors and there are vested interests. In terms of media, pharmaceutical companies make up a large part of advertising income for media companies. In terms of government, high ranking people in drugs companies in the USA move on to work for the FDA and vice versa. This creates a conflict of interest in my opinion.
Secondly you cannot always trust every published study that is put out there. Most studies on drugs are funded by drug companies who have a vested interest in the result. These companies will cause the result of each study to be manipulated in favour of their drug. Why would you fund a study that went against your own product? You wouldn't.
Drug companies have been known to pay ghostwriters to write "scientific papers" and then pay a well known doctor to put his name to it. These papers are then published in medical journals. An example is written about in the New York Times which can still be viewed at http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/05/health/research/05ghost.html.
This all should show you that many corrupted drug companies face a commercial reality which unfortunately involves placing profit above human life.
Please understand that marketing on TV is there to change your perceptions, not to provide you with the truth (ask anyone in the field of marketing). Anecdotally I see this happen all the time. I have stated certain things to people who find what I say to be not believable. However as soon as it is stated in a newspaper or on TV all caution is thrown to the wind and suddenly people are ready to believe! People will believe a stranger they have never seen yet they will not believe someone they know. That shows me the power that media has over us. We need to open our eyes to this and understand that the media is not there to educate us. It is there to sell us a product or an idea.
If you want to know more about these issues, you would do well to do your own research and formulate your own opinion on these subjects.

The Future
There is a book I might buy one day called "Power Aging" written by Doctor Gary Null.

There is a set of DVDs that is supposed to help with back and neck pain. It is called NST (Neurostructural Integration Technique) by Michael Nixon-Livy. It is sold on Mercola.com.

The China Study

Introduction
These are my thoughts and links on the China Study. This is one of the most polarizing "studies" ever to come out and is often quoted as fact. It does not appear to me however to be able to stand up against criticism and appears to often come up with the wrong conclusions.

Heavy Metal Toxicity and Chelation

Introduction
This is my thoughts on heavy metal toxicity, its effects, and potential solutions to heavy metal toxicity. These are based on information I have read and are not intended to treat anyone's health issues.

Toxicity
Is heavy metal toxic.....yup. Glad we got that one over with. Aluminium and mercury are probably the most well known for heavy metal toxicity. Heavy metal toxicity has been linked to brain disorders such as autism and alzheimers. Is this the cause of all cases of autism and alzheimers? Not likely. But many testimonials have declared significant improvements to these conditions following a chelation and lowering of these heavy metals in the body. Heavy metals are known to build up over time in the body, thus you may not notice when the toxicity initially began, however once someone is tipped over the edge, who knows what damage it is doing. Aluminium is a neurotoxin. When consumed, 5% of aluminuim is taken up and stored in the body. When applied to the body as as through anti-perspirants, as much as 40% of aluminium is stored in the body! Where it is stored in the body is also significant. When aluminium bonds with flouride, flouride helps carry aluminium across the blood/brain barrier where it can then unleash its havoc with one of your most important organs. Mercury is known to be one of the most toxic substances known to man. It is extremely toxic to the human body. It can be taken through flu vaccines, as well as eating larger fish-eating-fish. Aluminium can also be absorbed through vaccines, black tea, and even from the environment.

Chelation
Chelation has been sworn by many to be able to reduce the heavy metals in their body and also to help them or their children recover from various health issues. There are a number of chelation kits out there to assist with this but it is always best to seek the advice of a health professional.

Other common foods that can assist with the removal of heavy metals from the body:
  • Chloryphill
  • Spirulina
  • Olive leaf extract

Solutions: Exercise, Oxygen, Fat and Muscle

Introduction
These are my thoughts on exercise and research I have read in this regard. These may or may not be my opinions and are not intended to diagnose anyones issues. These are for my own benefit only.

PACE
Do leg lunges, knee bends, leg raises, push ups, etc Do 100 reps. Rest then do it again faster. This causes short period stress on the body to increase lung capacity and heart capacity. Long periods of exercise diminish capacity by forcing your body to become more efficient. This is not a good thing.

This is an exercise plan I would like to put into practice:

Weeks 1 and 2
Begin by developing an exercise routine based on activities you enjoy. Your goal is to perform this exercise for 20 minutes at a time at low intensity. If you can’t exercise for 20 minutes without stopping, rest as needed. As you’re starting out, write down what you do. It’s helpful to determine your current level of fitness to use as a baseline to track your progress.
In the second week, begin experimenting with the pace. Push yourself a little harder and then ease up a bit. Vary your pace as much as you feel comfortable.

As you play with the pace, begin to develop an internal scale of how intensely you exercise. Use a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 or 2 is a leisurely pace, all the way up to full throttle at 9 or 10.
Week 1:
• Exercise for 20 minutes at a comfortable intensity level of 2 or 3.
Week 2:
• Exercise for 20 minutes at varying intensity levels, recording your pace and how hard it feels.
Weeks 3 and 4
In weeks three and four, increase the amount of work you do in the same amount of time. If you exercise on a treadmill or cycling machine, push yourself to cover more distance in the same time.
Your workout now consists of two intervals, with a rest period in between. During the periods of rest, you don’t have to be completely inactive. You will do better to keep moving at low intensity while you recover.
Week 3:
• Exercise for 9 minutes at intensity level 3
• Rest for 2 minutes
• Exercise for 9 minutes at intensity level 4
Week 4:
• Exercise for 8 minutes at intensity level 4
• Rest for 4 minutes
• Exercise for 8 minutes at intensity level 5
Weeks 5 and 6
In weeks five and six, exercise more intensely during three somewhat shorter intervals.

Week 5:
• Exercise for 6 minutes at intensity level 3
• Rest for 2 minutes
• Exercise for 6 minutes at intensity level 5
• Rest for 2 minutes
• Exercise for 6 minutes at intensity level 4
Week 6:
Decrease each exercise period to 5 minutes, while you increase the intensity by one level. Since you are working a little harder, allow yourself 3 minutes of leisurely-paced rest to recover between intervals.
Weeks 7 and 8
It’s time to put the “accelerating” component of your PACE program into play. Your goal is to take less and less time to reach the point of your greatest effort. The result is that you complete more intervals during the same time and you increase the level quicker.
The shorter your intervals of greatest intensity, the faster you condition your body for maximal capacity.

Week 7:
• Exercise for 4 minutes at intensity level 4
• Rest for 2 minutes
• Exercise for 3 minutes at intensity level 6
• Rest for 2 minutes
• Exercise for 2 minutes at intensity level 7
• Rest for 3 minutes
• Exercise for 3 minutes at intensity level 5
Week 8:
Now you will shorten your first interval a little and increase the intensity of your second interval a bit. You are “accelerating” your challenge with your highest effort occurring earlier.
• Exercise for 3 minutes at intensity level 4
• Rest for 2 minutes
• Exercise for 3 minutes at intensity level 7
• Rest for 2 minutes
• Exercise for 3 minutes at intensity level 7
• Rest for 2 minutes
• Exercise for 3 minutes at intensity level 5
As you continue to pick up the pace, increase the intensity of your workout and the number of exercise intervals. At the same time, shorten the length of your exercise sessions.
You may be doing three five-minute intervals with two three-minutes rests. As you progress, shorten the length of your exercise intervals to four, three, two, and then one minute. Work a little harder during these shorter exercise sessions.
When you get used to PACE and use it to your full advantage, your workout sessions usually last less than 12 minutes.

EWOT
EWOT is Exercise with Oxygen Therapy. You take in oxygen from an oxygen concentrator while exercising and it allows your body to work more efficiently. This allows more oxygen to be utilised by the cells in the body and therefore assist in decreasing the symptoms of a number of health issues. This can apparently give a lot of energy to those who are feeling the effects of time, and thereby giving older people the ability to feel younger again. I think this is an intriguing topic however finding an oxygen concentrator is a little difficult (read: pricey) but one day I want to give this a go.

Drop Fat and Gain Muscle with Chromium
A study at the University of Kentucky showed that feeding Chromium to pigs increased lean muscle mass and decreased fat. An Austrian study showed the exact same thing with humans. Apparently also 90% of Americans do not get enough Chromium in their diet. Junk food makes this even worse as sugar forms phytic acid and this blocks the uptake of Chromium in the body.

Cant stop eating? Drop the High Fructose Corn Syrup
This HFCS sugar is in almost everything! And it increases the bodies production of leptin. This is the signal that tells the body when you are full. If this goes into over production then the body ignores the signal and does not tell you that you are full!

Chromium
Chromium is supposed to reduce weight and blood sugar levels and also build muscle mass.

Introduction
These are my thoughts on oxygen and potential roles in the human body. These are opinions only and not intended to treat anyone's problems.

Oxygen Concentrator
I have read a lot about this new exercise called EWOT - Exercise with Oxygen Therapy. This is where a workout is performed at the same time as concentrated oxygen is given.

Plants and growing lights

Introduction
This is my thoughts on plants and infrared growing lights.

Infrared Growing Lights

Infrared growing lights can be found at www.groleds.com.au and plug into a normal fitting such as a lamp.

Indoor plants

Vegetable garden plants
Fruit trees to grow: apples, apricots, olives, oranges, plums
For trees that dont respond well to the weather: use grow LEDs and/or a greenhouse
For indoors: Grow alfalfa and sprouts

Remedies: Miscellaneous

Introduction
This is my thoughts and findings on different issues that I have read about. This is not meant to diagnose anyones condition but is for my own personal information only.

Trigger Finger
Years ago, Dr. John Ellis found that taking 100 milligrams of vitamin
B6 three times a day for several months almost always eliminates this condition.

Organic Versus Conventional Produce

Introduction
These are my thoughts around the organic versus conventional debate. In my view there is no question that organic is better for you and better for the environment. My opinions however are just that. If you feel concerned about this topic, then feel free to perform your own research and form your own opinions.

Salmonella
Salmonella is a fecal contaminate. Feeding chickens with contaminated food can cause that bacteria to enter their bloodstream and into their ovaries where its passed on to the eggs - maybe the ones that you are eating. Studies have shown that organic eggs contain far less salmonella than those produced using conventional practices. To prevent salmonella poisoning, you can try to buy organic, free-range eggs where the chickens are eating grass and feed with no hormones, steroids, etc

Mineral and Vitamin Content
Records show that nutrient content of produce have decreased dramatically in the last 50 years. This is most likely due to bad farming practices which deplete the soil of these nutrients. See the following link: http://asap.sustainability.uiuc.edu/members/dananderson/wortfolder/food%20composition.pdf which shows the changes in mineral content between 1950 and 1999.

Remedies: Brain Nutrients

Introduction
This is a list of my thoughts and things that I have read about in relation to the brain. This is not intended to assist anyone in resolving their own problems and is here for my own benefit.

CoEnzymeQ10
This is generally known as the heart nutrient, but it is alsothe key energy transporter for every cell in your body. As you get older, you simply don't produce as much CoQ10 as you used to. CoQ10 however has been proven through research at the National Academy of Science to have anti-aging benefits in the brain.

Acetylcholine
This is a crucial brain chemical.

Bad Medication

Introduction
This section deals with medications and such that have received a bad rap. This is for my personal information only and is not intended to sway anyone elses opinion on medication use.

This is the problem I have with drugs.
1. Drugs almost always work by suppressing a hormone or function in your body, and in practice, this will be bad for your body 100% of the time. Your body was made to produce certain hormones and substances in response to certain conditions in the body. For example, a virus entering your body will trigger your body to create killer cells that seek out and destroy the virus. The thing is, if your body is being overrun by a disease, or your body is creating excess hormones, you should be looking to the cause of this, which may be lack of sleep, nutrition, excercise, oxygen, heavy metal toxicity, EMF poisoning, etc.
2. Drug companies are unethical. It is common for drug companies to know about dangerous side effects of their drugs and then try to cover them up, mislead doctors and patients over safety information, and over-state any possible positives.
3. Drugs have a list of side effects often more dangerous than the original health problem. The result, you start to increase the number of meds you are taking to combat those side effects. Unfortunately the extra drugs also have side effects and eventually you will put yourself into an early grave. My philosophy is that although I dont know the answer to every disease and bodily problem, your body is able to heal itself under the right conditions. I believe in looking for natural treatments for healing and maintaining health.

Painkillers
Source: http://www.theage.com.au/national/painkiller-linked-to-stroke-20100913-159h7.html

Here are some of my favourite quotes from this article: -

“The study found diclofenac, increased the risk of stroke by 86 per cent in people not previously thought to be at risk.”

''There is no good reason why diclofenac should stay on the market, but drug regulation authorities have not taken it on as an issue,'' he said.”

“A spokeswoman for the Therapeutic Goods Administration said it had received eight reports of heart attacks and one of angina in patients taking diclofenac where a causal association was suspected”

These are the results of an 8 year study performed on over 2.6 million Danes who had a prescription for non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The above quotes show just how dangerous drugs can stay on the market for a long time. One quote in particular above suggests that the TGA also appears to be relatively unconcerned about this. If this were a natural supplement having this impact I think it would not take long for them to withdraw it from the market. My biggest concern however is this. How many drugs are still on the market that are dangerous to the individuals taking them, and simply have not been studied long enough to determine their safety (or lack of).

Here is the response from the drug company. Quote from the article.

"A spokeswoman from Novartis Australia, which makes Voltaren, said the company did not believe the findings altered the benefit-to-risk assessment for diclofenac."

Are we really so gullible to believe this junk? So death is a risk worth taking so long as you get rid of that headache? I think a more reasonable approach would be to figure out why your head is giving you those aches than pretend it is not there with a drug that doubles your risk of stroke.

“Another drug in the same class, ibuprofen, sold as Nurofen and Advil, was linked to a 30 per cent increased risk of stroke when more than 1200 milligrams were taken.”

This is in regards to a commonly used painkiller called Nurofen. My belief is that poison is poison at all levels of intake. So any amount less than the amount prescribed above also presents a risk, maybe just a lower risk. So here is my recommendation. Don't use painkillers if you can live with the pain! In my way of thinking, they are a last resort only.

Osteoporosis Drugs
Just read recently about a class of osteoporosis medications called
bisphosphonates (which includes Boniva, Fosamax, and Actonel). These drugs are meant to strengthen bones. Appears to have quite a different effect however. Nearly 1000 cases were brough against Merck when womens jawbones started to become "moth-eaten". The drug is also associated with bone necrosis where "bone tissue is starved of blood and begins to collapse". Scary. To make it worse, the drug is also supposed to double your risk of esophageal cancer with long term use.

Not just an increased risk, actually -- the risk seems to be doubled
with long-term use, defined as over five years of use or having 10
prescriptions written for the drugs.

I have recently come across forums where jaw pain appears to be a frequent side effect of these drugs. I would say this is quite likely related. All in all I would say the risk once again does outweigh any potential benefits.

Krystexxa (for treatment of chronic Gout)
This drug is an interesting one. When you look at the side effects, you kind of wonder whether you should just live with the condition. The details of the study and side effects is found at http://www.krystexxa.com/pdfs/KRYSTEXXA_Prescribing_Information.pdf.
Side effects include anaphylaxis, gout flares, congestive heart failure, uticaria, dyspnea, chest discomfort, chest pain, erythema, and pruritus. What is scary that there is a significantly high rate of people who suffer these conditions. All contained in the report.

Diet pills cause stroke
My question is, how did a drug like this get approved in the first place? Here is the article:http://www.watoday.com.au/national/popular-diet-pill-banned-after-links-to-heart-attacks-strokes-20101009-16d38.html?from=age_ft.
And now the name: Sibutramine which is sold as Reductil by pharmaceutical group Abbot. The ironic thing is that drug companies still think they can unnaturally suppress bodily functions and acheive a good outcome. The only way they achieve good outcomes is in their own drug trials and that is by manipulating the results.

Monsanto

Idiots
I couldn't think of a better title for this. California is looking to approve methyl iodide for use on strawberries. This dangerous substance is used in the lab to induce cancer, and can also cause brain damage and miscarriages. See

False advertising

Introduction
This is my documentation of what I consider to be false advertising.

Monster Noodles
Now you can see that this product is apparently approved by some "Healthy School Canteen" group so you would think this is a nice healthy product for your kid to be eating. See picture below: -

I will let you be the judge but this product contains a number of flavour enhancers which I certainly wouldn't be placing on my healthy list. In fact this is on my own personal list of no-no foods.

Corporate Lies by the Food Lobby Groups (Australia is no different to US)

I dont agree with everything they say in this article (like the fanciful statement quoted that most aussies are already getting enough nutrients in their food) but it makes some good mention of the issues that I know already plague the US, and according to this article also Australia. Not that I am surprised! It would be naive to think that it does not affect the food industry in every single country in the world.

http://www.theage.com.au/national/get-set-for-our-messiest-food-fight-yet-20110226-1b9b3.html

There is one statement here that emphasises the biggest issue today in marketing of food products and why consumers often believe the lies that come from the food lobbyists and marketing campaigns.

"Webs of influence criss-cross industry-funded food bodies, universities and government-backed food regulators. It is not unusual for people to work for all three simultaneously."

Further in the article it discusses provision of a "traffic light" labelling system to tell you how healthy the food is. I don't agree with the "traffic light" labelling answer myself - a watermelon has a lot of sugar content yet it is not bad for you - would such a system give watermelon a red light?? As one group put it: -

"...that traffic-light labelling ''misleads'' consumers, telling them to ''stop'' eating foods such as dairy that may be high in fat, but can still be part of a healthy diet"

Anyway - if you want to know a bit about how we are deceived into thinking foods such as canola and soy and many others are healthy while coconut and eggs are considered "bad" - read the article...

My diet rules: Simple is better

Introduction
This is my current philosophy about diet and management. I have studies many different diets and tried a number of different variants. I went from worrying about nutrient content to worrying about Carb/Fat/Protein ratios, and then to GI levels.

In the end I decided on a simple diet that doesnt require me to look carefully at figures and try to do sums on ratios and GI levels. This is my diet.

The simple rules that anyone can follow are: -
1. Eat as much unprocessed food as desired. This includes fruit, vegetables, herbal teas, free range meat and wild fish.
2. Limit any pastuerized dairy. Many people find it difficult to process the proteins in pastuerized milk. If you must drink it then try to find unhomogenized and organic.
3. Limit processed foods. Where you must eat processed foods, scan the ingredients and do not use anything that contains flavour enhancers (such as 635) and try to avoid ingredients such as canola, soy, hydrolysed/modified ingredients or transfats.
4. Eliminate any foods that do not leave you feeling good about yourself.

This is a diet that many will disagree with but this forms the basis of my diet.

I believe no one diet fits all. You may find that you have issues eating certain types of foods, but that is for you as an individual to find out. If you always feel bad after a certain type of meal, chances are there is something in it that is not good for the person called you. It could be a great addition to the diet for Jack down the street however.

If you want to see what type of diet is for you then I recommend you check out Doctor Mercola's Nutritional Typing. This is based on the fact that everyone is genetically different and respond best to different foods.

Carbohydrates
Some people have put to me that white rice is a complex carbohydrate and therefore it is good for you. This line of thinking does not make sense to me and I am not sure of the reasoning behind it. The fact is that we need unprocessed carbohydrates. Our bodies have absolutely no requirement for highly processed complex carbohydrates such as white rice, white pasta, white flour, white sugar, etc.

My stance is this. Make sure you get your complex carbohydrates in less processed form if possible. Same with simple carbohydrates. Unprocessed is best. Processed carbs in my opinion are not necessary. See http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/focus/nutrition/facts/lifestylemanagement/carbohydrates.htm which contains some good information on this topic.

Some foods that I like: -
Chia seeds, almonds, walnuts, macadamia nuts

Spinach, lettuce, purple cabbage, peas
Carrots, tomatoes, capsicum, eggplant, cucumber, zucchini, pumpkin

Blueberries, apples, bananas, apricots, watermelon, coconut, mango, aloe, cherries, berries

Parsley, Rosemary, tumeric, cayenne

Unhomogenised organic milk, organic butter and yoghurt and eggs

Organic red meat, wild fish, free range chicken

Multivitamin, Resveratrol, CoenzymeQ10, Vitamin B, Gingko, creatine, taurine, l-carnatine, spirulina, chlorella, vitamin D

Sickness supplements
Epicor, Garlic, Swedish bitters, Olive leaf extract, Soaked cinnamon, Honey and pollen

Remedies: Supplementing during pregnancy

Introduction
This is something I found in an email about supplementation during pregnancy. I have recorded this here for my own information.

Extract of email
My daughter has always been interested in natural health and has taken supplements for years. She's about to have her first child and plans on breast-feeding. Should she keep taking supplements while she's nursing?

Dr. Wright: Nursing or soon-to-be-nursing mothers should certainly be taking supplements, especially folic acid, calcium/magnesium, a high quality multiple vitamin-mineral, and iron. There is one nutrient, however, that your daughter does need to limit: Even "medium-high" quantities of vitamin B6 could suppress prolactin secretion. Prolactin is the principal pituitary hormone that stimulates milk formation in nursing mothers. Even though this fact was documented years ago, it still isn't as well known as it should be.

Your daughter should check to be sure that her total intake of vitamin B6 (including pyridoxine and pyridoxal phosphate) isn't higher than 25 milligrams a day. The lowest amount necessary to "shut off" prolactin is likely 50 milligrams daily or more -- but there's no point in risking a problem.

Remedies: Diabetes

Introduction
I have never had diabetes however my nanna had type 1 diabetes and I know a few family members also with type 1 diabetes. Apparently the conventional consensus going around is that there is no cure to diabetes. Some who have apparently managed to cure the condition would beg to differ however. This page is related to news and information I find in regards to diabetes. I have not tested any remedies on this page and do not consider myself an authority on the subject.

Study shows white rice increases risk of diabetes by up to 17%
See http://www.nih.gov/researchmatters/june2010/06282010diabetes.htm.

In a paper published on June 14, 2010, in the Archives of Internal Medicine,it was shown that eating white rice at least 5 times a week increased risk of diabetes type 2 by 17%. Eating brown rice however decreased risk of diabetes type 2 by 16%. Therefore by replacing your white rice with brown rice could reduce your risk by around 33%! This is as good a reason as any to change your diet!

Cinnamon
Research has shown that water soluble cinnamon can decrease glucose levels i nthe body as well as oxidative stress. See http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2010-08/usdo-rsc082410.php for the details of research performed on this.

"The study demonstrated that the water-soluble cinnamon extract improved a number of antioxidant variables by as much as 13 to 23 percent, and improvement in antioxidant status was correlated with decreases in fasting glucose, according to Anderson."

Water soluble cinnamon are the components of cinnamon that are soluble in water. The more toxic components of cinnamon tend to be not soluble in water. Therefore it is recommended to soak cinnamon in water, strain it out, and then use the "cinnamon water".

Chromium
Chromium is an essential trace mineral that stimulates the enzymes involved in glucose metabolism, which keeps blood-sugar levels in check. Chromium Picolinate may reduce the risk of insulin resistance and therefore reduce the risk of type II diabetes. This is backed by a significant number of studies.

Remedies: Brain, memory, ADHD, autism, alzheimers and learning disorders

Introduction
I do not have and neither has anyone close to me (as far as I know) experienced ADHD, autism or significant learning disorders. The below information is based on testimonies given by friends, on the Internet, by alternate health doctors who have personally acheived healing in a number patients, by scientific studies, and other means not listed above. I am providing this information as-is, and not as an authoritative source on the subject. I do however consider personal testimonies to be more powerful proof of remedies than scientific studies that are often poorly conducted and/or interpreted based in the desired outcome of the study.

Remedies
Preservative and additive free diet
According to http://www.fedupwithfoodadditives.info/newsletters/FAILsaf38.htm, a study was conducted on national TV in Britain that showed removal of preservatives and additives in food saw an improvement in up to 60% of children in a class of 6 year olds. Additives are quite obviously a big concern that is ignored by most food companies who have no problem adding them to their foods.

The http://www.fedupwithfoodadditives.info/ website contains many testimonials from parents who attest to the effectiveness of the failsafe diet. The failsafe diet can be tricky to follow however. According to the website if you make just one mistake then you may not see an improvement.

The website also contains a faq sheet at for more information. See http://www.fedupwithfoodadditives.info/factsheets/Factautism.htm for more details.

Note: The fail-safe diet is a low-chemical elimination diet recommended by the Australian Royal Prince Alfred Hospital - free of additives, low in salicylates, amines and flavour enhancers - for health, behaviour and learning problems.

Environmental causes of autism - Osteopathic Center
The website http://www.osteopathiccenter.org/autism.html states autism cases as rising 1000% in the last 10 years which is quite staggering. As the website states, the underlying causes of autism are possibly quite wide ranging. Some of the examples given are:

  • Xenobiotics - which are chemicals that are foreign to the natural environment. These can include Polychlorinated Biphenels (PCB's), pesticides, insecticides, sodium lauryl sulfate, and heavy metals. These can be found in water supplies and the human body.
  • Mercury and aluminium which can be found in vaccines. In 2001 the law firm of Waters & Kraus acquired a confidential report authored by the Centers for Disease Control. The CDC scientists investigated autism as a potential neurological injury caused by mercury in childhood vaccines.
The confidential study demonstrated that an exposure to more than 62.5 micro grams of mercury within the first three months of life significantly increases a child's risk of developing autism. Children with the exposure were more than twice as likely to develop autism as children not exposed. Aluminium is also a known neurotoxin.
  • Caesarian section deliveries and birth complications and birth trauma
  • Diet
  • Highly elevated arsenic levels

Environmental toxins

As stated previously, environmental toxins are considered as a major contributor to autism and ADHD. I don't pretend to have the answers for these and related symtomatic issues, however it can be reasonable to assume these toxins will worsen the symptoms somewhat.

Following is a list of issues that I think may potentially worsen symptoms: -

  • EMF is produced by electricity and electrix equipment. This means you can be affected by EMF from power lines, wires running through your house, or your alarm clock. If you have symptoms from exposure to EMF, you may have EHS (Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity). See why your inner-spring mattress could be a strong source of EMF - http://emf.mercola.com/sites/emf/archive/2010/08/18/your-box-spring-mattress-could-be-acting-as-a-gigantic-cancercausing-radiation-antenna.aspx. Using a latex bed or even a wool or cotton bed with no metal is a good idea. Latex beds are probably the best for providing good support. An example is http://www.latexbeddingco.com.au who I am not affiliated with.
  • Industrial pollutants which are discarded or find their way into our soils and water supplies, and end up in our food and water.
  • Flouride in our water supplies which is often an industrial waste product rather than a naturally sourced flouride. Read about flouride at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluoride. Very little flouride has to find its way into your system to cause sickness and even death. I have read testimonials of those who become sick from consuming too much flouridated water. Flouride is a toxin as far as I can tell and the combined sources of toothpaste, flouridated water, tea and others can cause advanced flourosis, especially in individuals who drink a lot of tea with high flouride levels. I am not sure if flouride is a contributing factor to autism all by itself; but flouride bonds easily with aluminium and carries it across the blood-brain barrier where aluminium acts as a potent neurotoxin. Adding flouride to the water supply is a dubious act at best and is essentially mass medication which I find to be quite unethical. I believe tea plants also draw both flouride and aluminium from the soil, and so can become a large source of both of these elements. So the recommendation with tea is to drink tea from younger leaves such as green and white tea.
  • Drugs which people take whether knowingly or not. When people consume drugs, much of it leaves the system through the sewage systems and enters our oceans and water supplies. BPA has been found in significant concentrations in the environment sadly. It is also found at considerable levels in the human body Science has found recently that many of these toxins can make their way from the mother and into unborn babies.

Possible Solutions

Chelation

Where high levels of heavy metals have been detected in someone with autism or learning difficulties, going through chelation to bring down those levels has been able to reverse autism in a number of individuals, according to many testimonials I have read on the Internet including previously mentioned web links that have been given on this page.

An answer from one of my favourite doctors - Dr. Jonathan V. Wright
This is a short word on autism by an MD who has been healing people for many decades.

Q: My two-year-old grandson was just diagnosed with autism. I have no idea where to even begin looking for information on its cause and treatments -- would you point me in the right direction?

Dr. Wright: Something causes autism -- whether it's a genetic factor or environmental one, there must be an underlying reason for each case. But since those underlying causes are all unknown, the disease is virtually impossible to treat. However, more evidence is pointing to the link between autism and heavy metal toxicity -- particularly mercury.

In 2006, a group of researchers took urine samples from hundreds of children and discovered that the ones with autism had much higher levels of a family of proteins called porphyrins. Porphyrin metabolites bind to receptors in the brain and have been linked with both epilepsy and autism. Heavy metals, including mercury, cause the production of abnormally high levels of porphyrins.

If heavy metal toxicity is responsible for some of the cases of childhood autism, chelation therapy could be a worthwhile solution. This hasn't been tested or proven in a controlled study at this point, but there have been individuals who have tried it and have had good results.

I suggest contacting a physician skilled and knowledgeable in natural medicine to get your grandson tested for heavy metal toxicity. A blood test or a hair analysis won't be sufficient, so make sure the doctor does a chelation test. To find a doctor in your area, contact the American College for Advancement in Medicine at (800)532-3688 or www.acam.org.

ADHD and Krill Oil
A clinical study of boys who were aged from 7 to 11 and suffering from ADHD; revealed that krill oil may play a role in improving the symptoms of ADHD. The boys took a krill oil supplement every day for 90 days, and clinical symptoms /EEG readings all showed improvement

Alzheimers and Tumeric
Tumeric has been shown to prevent the onset of alzheimers as well as the ability to cure it. This as well as a number of other diseases such as osteoarthritis and cancer. See http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/special-turmeric-extract-benefits-osteoarthritis-patients-102967864.html for more details.

Memory Problems and Vitamin B
Research at Oxford University was recently performed that showed daily supplementation with high doses of certain B vitamins can cut the rate of brain shrinkage in half for older people who have mild memory problems.

Folic acid, B6 and B12. These are known to control levels of homocysteine, high levels of which are associated with an increased risk of Alzheimer's.

Over the course of the 2-year study, 168 volunteers over 70 years old took either a high-dose vitamin B complex or a placebo tablet every day. People with the highest levels of homocysteine showed the most benefit from the Bs. Overall, those taking the B vitamins showed a brain-shrinkage rate that was half that of people taking the placebo.

Researchers also conducted memory tests that confirmed stronger scores were related to slower brain shrinkage.

Supplementation
Supplementation with Vinpocetine has been shown to assist with "fixing" brain disorders. This can be purchased in supplement form (see
http://www.biovea-australia.com/(S(mf5nc2u5y45o3jvg3aeumcad))/product_detail.aspx?PID=1746) or tea form. Vinpocetine is found within the leaves of the common periwinkle plant.

Remedies: Asthma

Introduction
I have never had asthma. So I can testify that I do not know personally what works and what doesn't. All information here is based on a testimony of a friend, a testimony on the Internet, based on a scientific study, published in a newspaper, noted by a trusted doctor in alternate health, or other means not listed above. Always research therapies before you try them.

Possible Solutions
Wild cherry bark tea. It has been reported that some have completely stopped experiencing asthma attacks after taking this daily. It is supposedly also good for coughs and bronchitis.

Go on a preservative free diet. A preservative - antioxidant 320 or BHA has been noted on the website http://www.fedupwithfoodadditives.info to be a cause of asthma in many people. They note testimonies from individuals who removed this additive from their diet and had the asthma symptoms also disappear. Note that this is based on the failsafe diet which can be tricky to follow. According to the website if you make just one mistake and take a preservative that was not intended, you may not receive an improvement.

Note: The fail-safe diet is a low-chemical elimination diet recommended by the Australian Royal Prince Alfred Hospital - free of additives, low in salicylates, amines and flavour enhancers - for health, behaviour and learning problems.

Remedies: Washing vegetables and fruit

Use lemon juice with salt and water. This creates HCL which will assist in washing off pesticides and such.

Remedies: Stomach acid reflux and heartburn

Introduction
I have not to my knowledge had an issue with stomach acid levels. I also do not consider myself an authority on the subject.

So what is acid reflux and heart burn
An authority on the subject however is Jonathan V. Wright MD who has written some books on the subject. Read http://www.tahomaclinic.com/heartburn.shtml for some information on the subject. Also read the book that Jonathan has written on the subject called "Your Stomach -What is really making you miserable and what to do about it".

A suggested remedy from the Internet
If you are suffering low stomach acid levels, take a HCL supplement, or create your own HCL by mixing lemon/lime juice/or apple cider vinegar with magnesium chloride/salt, and a protein meal. The food acid reacts with the magnesium chloride to form hydrochloric acid and magnesium citrate. This helps activate digestive enzymes and provide acidity in the stomach. Use one teaspoon of lemon or lime juice (or less of cider vinegar) to half a teaspoon of magnesium chloride in cold water.

Further stimulate the digestion by taking bitters following a meal.

Remedies: Teeth and Gums

Introduction
A good place to start is by reading at http://mizar5.com http://mizar5.com/3things.html http://mizar5.com/mothring.htm and http://mizar5.com/keyes.html

Overnight
Over a night time, bacteria can become active and multiple in the oral region. To prevent the bacteria from causing damage over this 8 hour period, Rinse xylatol around your mouth each night before going to bed. Rinsing xylatol through the mouth and teeth can also help ro relieve a toothache.

Cleaning protocol
Floss. Seriously. This gets rid of items that may get stuck between teeth which may cause disease in the gums. Flossing around the gums can also decrease plaque buildup around the base of the teeth.

Take a toothpick and chew a bit on one of the pointed ends until it's soft and no longer sharp. Then take that point and trace around all your gums so that you gently push back the gums as you trace them. Do this once a day. This helps remove excess bacteria from just under the gums at the base of the teeth.

Gingivitus and gum problems
If you have receding gums or gingivitus try opening a capsule of CoQ10 each day and brushing your teeth with it.

Mouthwash
Try gargling with 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide and some water.

If you have a cavity and teeth hurting
Use colloidal silver or xylatol to kill the bacteria.  I found making sure you swish xylatol around you mouth before you go to bed sets you up for the night, and you may wake up in the morning with the hurtin gone.

Remineralisation
Add mineral and nutrient dense foods to your diet.  Also add silica and MSM.

Whitening
Dip your brush into some 3% hydrogen peroxide and brush your teeth. Over time this will remove the stains and whiten your teeth.

A toothpaste recipe
1/2 teaspoon sodium bicarbonate.
A few drops of 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide.
1/2 teaspoon xylatol

I am still trying to find a substitute for sodium bicarbonate.

Freshen the mouth
Chew gum leaves! These have a pleasant aroma and also provide antibacterial properties.\

The Toothbrush Tree
This is a natural tree that is popular in South Africa for cleaning teeth. It is recognised for having a number of properties that may help protecting teeth. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvadora_persica for more details.

Remedies: Energy

Try taking bee pollen. This provides great energy as well as 'prowess'.

Remedies: kidney stones

Asparugus is known as a kidney stone remedy from a long time back. Just boil asparagus in water and eat!
